Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, a married woman was allegedly gang-raped by a number of youths at a house in Mancheswar area in the city three days ago, police said today.
The woman lodged a complaint at Mancheswar police station, based on which police registered a case and arrested three accused in this connection.
Some others involved in the crime are absconding, police added.
The accused who were forwarded to court are Malinga, Swadhin adn Deepak. Eight others are still at large. A manhunt has been launched to nab others, police said.
The incident took place during a birthday celebration. According to complaint, Deepak had arranged a birthday party in which his friends were invited. During celebration, they had created heavy noise in the building. The complainant who is neighbour had requested them to celebrate the birthday silently.
The accused didn’t pay any heed to the woman’s request. As the woman resisted them, they forcibly abused her sexually. The incident happened in the absence of her husband, reports said.
Hearing her screaming, some neighbors rescued her. The accused fled the spot after committing the crime. They had also threatened the survivor to eliminate her if she discloses the matter to anyone.
Later, the woman along with her husband lodged a complaint with police.
