The Communist Party of India (Maoist) Central Committee has expressed its willingness to engage in peace talks with the Central and State governments.
However, their condition is a cessation of the ongoing ‘Operation Kagar,’ which they claim targets tribal communities and party members across multiple states.
Speaking through its spokesperson, Abhay, the CPI (Maoist) labeled the operation as a form of genocide, stating that over 400 individuals, including Adivasis and party cadres, have lost their lives. The group emphasized that creating a conducive environment for dialogue and announcing an unconditional ceasefire are vital prerequisites for peace talks.
The statement also accused the current regime of promoting corporate interests at the expense of tribal rights and federalism. Civil rights groups and other organizations have been urged to campaign for peace initiatives.
The proposed talks aim to address grievances and ensure protection for tribal communities, thereby fostering long-term peace in affected regions.
