Rourkela Police achieved a major breakthrough in their ongoing efforts to free border areas from Maoist influence.
A woman cadre from the Anmol team, active in the Saranda forest, surrendered today before Western Range DIG Brijesh Rai and Rourkela SP.
The surrender took place at the police headquarters, where officials welcomed her with flowers and a shawl. DIG Rai assured that she would receive all benefits under the government’s surrender and rehabilitation scheme.
Odisha Police has recorded significant success in its anti-Maoist operations in recent months. Officials confirmed that 77 Maoists surrendered before Odisha Police, while 23 others from Odisha surrendered before Chhattisgarh Police.
The surrender of the woman cadre marks another step in weakening the Maoist presence in the region. Authorities said the move reflects growing confidence in the government’s rehabilitation program and the effectiveness of police outreach.
