Chhattisgarh police successfully dismantled a Maoist camp near the Odisha border in Nuapada district, seizing a large cache of explosives and insurgent materials.
The operation was conducted in the Gobra hills under Menpur police limits in Chhattisgarh’s Gariaband district, adjacent to Nuapada. Acting on intelligence inputs, security forces launched a combing operation and uncovered the Maoist hideout believed to be part of the Gariaband-Dhamtari-Nuapada (GDN) division of the Maoist organization.
Recovered items include one improvised explosive device (IED), 57 arrows, Maoist uniforms, literature, and a single-shot barrel weapon. Authorities suspect the camp was being used to plan attacks on security personnel.
Gariaband SP Nikhil Rakhecha confirmed that the Maoists had been hiding in the area and were preparing for an assault. However, the timely action by the forces thwarted their plans. Search operations are still underway in the surrounding region to ensure complete neutralization of the threat.
