A shocking incident has unfolded in Paralakhemundi of Gajapati district, where a man allegedly poisoned his two children before attempting to take his own life.
According to reports, the man, identified as Subhasis Panigrahi, administered poison to his eight-year-old son and 12-year-old daughter before consuming it himself.
The son, Vijay Anand, succumbed to the poisoning, while the father and daughter, Priyadarshini, were rushed to MKCG MCH Berhampur in critical condition.
Local residents intervened upon discovering the incident and immediately transported the victims to the hospital.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragedy, with initial reports suggesting family disputes may have played a role.
Further complicating the case, the accused man’s wife, Sweta Manjuri, had reportedly died under suspicious circumstances earlier.
Police officials are continuing their probe, seeking clarity on the events leading up to the incident.
