Cuttack: A man was reportedly asphyxiated to death after his car plunged into a canal in the Bamphakuda area, under the jurisdiction of Sadar police in Cuttack.
The deceased has been identified as Kanha Jena of Bamphakuda.
Initial reports suggest that Jena had been missing since Monday evening. His family tried to reach him and conducted a search but he did not return home until late the following day. However, they could not locate him.
On Tuesday morning, locals spotted a car submerged in a canal and immediately informed the Odisha Fire Services. A team was sent and swiftly arrived at the location to retrieve the vehicle.
Upon arrival, Fire Service personnel found Jena’s body in the driver’s seat. A JCB machine was employed to pull the car out of the canal. It is presumed that Jena lost his life after his car veered off the road and into the canal the night before. Sadar Police have taken the body into their custody and have commenced an investigation.
