Cuttack: A man was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment for raping a minor girl three year ago in Salipur area of Cuttack.
A special POCSO court also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on accused Mantu Mallik.
Besides, the court has also directed the district Legal Service Authority to pay compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the survivor.
Mantu, a married person, had allegedly raped a 16-year-old girl of the same area in May, 2019 on the pretext of giving her a job. Later, the girl had lodged a complaint with police following which police had arrested the accused and forwarded to court.
The court pronounced the verdict based on the report of 12 witnesses and 29 documents.
