Sambalpur: The BJP’s Sambalpur unit observed a 12-hour bandh in the district today demanding the removal of State for Home Dibya Shankar Mishra for his alleged close proximity with Gobinda Sahu, the prime accused in the Kalahandi school teacher Mamita Meher murder case. The BJP also sought a CBI probe into the matter.
The BJP also demanded immediate release of Rs 50 lakh compensation to the family of Mamita.
However, emergency services like ambulance, milk, water, medicines and fire brigade have been exempted from the bandh purview.
Besides, students going to schools, colleges and other educational institutions for admission related works or for appearing examinations will not be detained during the 12-hour bandh.
Workers of the party have accordingly been instructed to ensure that marketplaces, roadside shops, malls and commercial establishments including government and private organisations remain closed.
On the other hand, the BJP Yuva Morcha has decided to gherao SP offices across the State to further intensify their demand.
Meanwhile, a 15-member team of the BJP led by Odisha BJP president Samir Mohanty will meet the family members of the deceased teacher today.
