A minor girl from Malkangiri district was allegedly gang-raped by four individuals, including a truck driver.
The prime accused, truck driver Subham Singh (26), hailing from Madhya Pradesh, has been arrested. Additional arrests include Manoj Harijan (30), Rohit Kumar Hial (24), and Bira Bhartia (26), all residents of the Malkangiri township, based on further investigation and the victim’s statement.
The incident unfolded after the girl visited her friend’s house to celebrate a birthday and failed to return home, prompting a frantic search by her family.
She was found in a suspicious situation alongside a truck driver late at night near Bija Ghat on NH-326. Police have arrested four individuals, including the truck driver, following allegations of gang-rape.
According to reports, the girl’s family filed a missing persons report after she failed to return home. Concerned locals noticed her with a truck driver and alerted authorities, prompting immediate action from Malkangiri Police. The girl was subsequently placed under care at Shakti Sadan.
The truck—loaded with cement—was seized, and the police have registered a formal FIR. Medical examinations for both the victim and the accused are underway.
