The Madhya Pradesh Directorate of Public Instruction (DPI) has issued a directive prohibiting corporal punishment in all schools across the state, encompassing both government and private institutions.

This action aligns with the Right to Education (RTE) Act and the Indian Penal Code (IPC), reinforcing the legal framework against such practices. Violations will attract strict legal action, as per Sections 17(2) of the RTE Act and 323 of the IPC.

The directive follows a request from the Madhya Pradesh Child Rights Protection Commission, urging the School Education Department to implement stringent measures against corporal punishment. The goal is to foster a safe and respectful learning environment for students.

Education authorities have been instructed to monitor schools closely and take swift action against any infractions. This move is expected to significantly improve student welfare and cultivate a positive educational atmosphere throughout Madhya Pradesh.
