Odia Language, Literature and Culture Department and Odisha Sahitya Akademi today celebrated the birth anniversary of Maa Ramadevi. Odia Language, Literature & Culture Minister Surjyabanshi Suraj, attended the programme as the Chief Guest.
In his address, Minister Suraj said, “Maa Ramadevi’s life was the finest example of simple living and high thinking. Her birth anniversary is a moment of great pride for the Odia community. Throughout her life, she embraced simplicity and the spirit of swadeshi. Her contribution to India’s freedom struggle continues to inspire generations. I am confident that today’s youth will draw strength from her ideals and contribute to building Vikshit Odisha by 2036″.
Ekamra MLA Babu Singh, attending as the Guest of Honour, said, “Maa Ramadevi championed the cause of Swaraj and social justice and became a protector of the marginalised community. In Odisha, she played a crucial role in elevating the social and political participation of women. Her life remains a guiding light for all of us.”
Renowned writer Pradyumna Satpathy, speaking, said, “Maa Ramadevi’s life mission and legacy serve as an inspiration not only for Odisha but for women across India.”
Dr Bijay Ketan Upadhyay, Secretary, Odia Language, Literature & Culture Department and Deba Prasad Dash, Special Secretary, Odia Language, Literature & Culture Department, shared insights on Maa Ramadevi’s life and contributions. Dr Chandra Sekhar Hota, Secretary of Odisha Sahitya Akademi, conducted the proceedings of the event.
