The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had earlier predicted the formation of a low pressure area over Bay of Bengal with further intensification and cyclogenesis between May 21 and May 27.
Notably, the Extremely Severe Cyclone Tauktae, which hit the Gujarat coast last evening, has weakened into a ‘Very Severe’ category on Tuesday morning.
Officials at the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that despite completing over 12 hours since the storm hit land, it continues to maintain a wind speed of 110-120km/hr gusting to 130 km /hr.
