Odisha Vigilance officers today apprehended Sri Sisir Kumar Naik, an Amin of Kutra Tahasil, on charges of corruption.
Naik was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 6,000 from a complainant. The bribe was allegedly demanded for the preparation of a sketch map for the partition of land records, in compliance with a court order.
According to sources, Naik initially demanded Rs 10,000 but reduced the amount to ₹6,000 after the complainant expressed his financial limitations. Left with no option, the complainant approached the vigilance authorities, leading to a successful trap laid by the officers.
The bribe money was recovered from Naik’s possession, and searches are currently underway at two locations connected to him. A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered, and further investigation is ongoing.
This operation highlights Odisha Vigilance’s commitment to curbing corruption and ensuring justice for the underprivileged.
