Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Friday arrested the Branch In Charge, Kunduli LAMPCS, in Koraput district for demanding and taking a bribe.
The accused has been identified as Satyanarayan Challan, Branch In Charge, Kunduli LAMPCS under Semliguda Block.
Challan has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance while demanding and taking a bribe of Rs 3,000 from a Millet farmer (Complainant) in his office at Kunduli LAMPCS for Millet procurement.
Challan had demanded a bribe of Rs 45 per bag to procure the 117 bags (50 kg each) of millets of the farmer. Later, following negotiation, he reduced the bribe amount to Rs 3,000. As Challan refused to accept the millet bags unless the bribe amount was paid, the farmer approached the Vigilance authorities, following which, Challan was nabbed today while taking the bribe.
The entire tainted bribe money has been recovered and seized from the possession of the accused, Satyanarayan Challan.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations linked to Challan from the DA angle.
In this connection, Koraput Vigilance P.S. Case No. 09 Dt. 27.02.2025 U/s 7 P.C (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. Investigation is in progress against the accused.
