Kenya Police Uses Tear Gas to Disperse Anti-Government Protesters

Police in Kenya on Tuesday used tear gas to disperse hundreds of protesters who were demanding President William Ruto’s resignation. Despite Ruto making several concessions, including withdrawing a controversial finance bill and firing nearly his entire cabinet, the protests have continued.

Demonstrators are calling for action on issues like corruption and misgovernance, and many are demanding Ruto step down. The ongoing protests in Kenya have indeed created a significant crisis for President William Ruto.

Activists, initially driven by proposed tax increases, have called for a “total shutdown” of the country, demanding Ruto’s resignation due to alleged misgovernance, corruption, and the deaths of protesters during earlier rallies.

In Nairobi, riot police used tear gas to disperse protesters, while in Mombasa, demonstrators marched with palm fronds. Although Ruto’s office announced talks to address the grievances, many activists have rejected this, insisting on immediate action against corruption.
