Kendrapara: Odisha Vigilance sleuths arrested an amin in Kendrapara district for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 2000 on Wednesday.
The accused has been identified as Umakanta Behera, Amin, office of Tahasildar, Mahakalapada Tahasil, Dist- Kendrapara.
Behera has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 2000 from a complainant to release the detailed report after the demarcation of the land of the complainant. completed by Behera a month back. The entire bribe money has been recovered from Behera and seized.
For the last month, the complainant has been requesting Behera to release the demarcation report of his land. But, Behera was demanding a bribe of Rs 2,000 to release the said report. The complainant being a poor man was not able to pay the demanded bribe. Hence, finding no other means, the complainant alleged before the Vigilance Authority about his problem over toll-free No 1064 of Odisha Vigilance. Accordingly, Vigilance officials nabbed Behera today, while accepting the demanded bribe money from the complainant.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at three locations of Behera from a DA angle.
In this connection, Cuttack Vigilance PS case no 12/2024 U/s-7PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. The investigation is in progress against the accused. Further reports are awaited.
