Odisha Vigilance officers arrested Revenue Inspector Pradyumna Keshari Behura of Kedargarh Circle, Rajnagar Tahasil, Kendrapara district, while he accepted a bribe of Rs 5,000 from a landowner.
The incident took place on February 27, 2026, in front of the Tahasil Office at Rajnagar.
Investigators revealed that Behura demanded the bribe to submit a favourable report in a mutation case related to inheritance updation. The landowner, angered by the demand, reported the matter to Vigilance authorities. Acting swiftly, a team laid a trap and caught Behura red‑handed while he collected the money.
Officials recovered the entire tainted amount of Rs 5,000 from Behura’s possession. Following the arrest, simultaneous searches began at two locations linked to him. Vigilance confirmed that Cuttack Vigilance PS Case No. 09 dated 26.02.2026 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered against the accused officer.
Authorities emphasised their commitment to curbing corruption in government offices. The arrest highlights Vigilance’s proactive measures to ensure transparency in land mutation cases and protect citizens from exploitation.
