Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest producer of aluminium, participated in the 28th edition of the Kalahandi Utsav – Ghumura 2026. The company’s Lanjigarh refinery showcased key aspects of its operations and community development programs.
The company’s pavilion attracted over 30,000 visitors, generating significant interest in its display of the bauxite-to-aluminium manufacturing process. This provided stakeholders with a clear understanding of aluminium production and its applications.
Held in Bhawanipatna, the event was an important platform for Vedanta Aluminium to highlight its long-standing association with the district and its role in supporting local socio-economic development. The five-day festival was attended by the Chief Minister of Odisha, Mohan Charan Majhi.
In addition to showcasing industrial excellence, the exhibition highlighted the company’s community transformation journey through dedicated zones for Project ‘Sakhi’ and Project ‘Adikala’. The Project Sakhi marketplace featured a variety of products, including millet-based organic produce and handcrafted items, created by over 4,000 women entrepreneurs from rural Odisha. Meanwhile, Project Adikala celebrated the region’s rich tribal heritage, featuring live demonstrations by local artisans skilled in traditional Dhokra and Saura art forms. Through ongoing training, design support, and market connections, Vedanta Aluminium has helped ensure sustainable livelihoods for over 200 artisan families, allowing these ancient traditions to thrive in a modern economy.
During the festival, the company presented the Vedanta Gyanshree Awards to eight Class X district toppers from Kalahandi, recognising their academic excellence and promoting higher education among rural students. The awards were conferred by Shri Anup Ranjan Pattnaik, OJS, District & Sessions Judge of Kalahandi; Shri Sachin Prakash Pawar, IAS, Collector & District Magistrate of Kalahandi; Shri Madhusudan Das, IAS, Collector of Nuapada; Shri Nruparaj S. Sahu, OAS, Collector of Subarnapur (Sonepur); and Mr Pranab Kumar Bhattacharyya, CEO of Vedanta Alumina Business.
During the event, Pranab Kumar Bhattacharyya expressed, “Kalahandi Utsav serves as a platform that celebrates the essence of this region. We are honoured by the visit of the Honourable Chief Minister, which reaffirms our belief that industrial progress and cultural preservation must go hand in hand to foster an inclusive and sustainable future for the people of Kalahandi.”
By participating in Kalahandi Utsav 2026, the company has once again confirmed its commitment as a responsible industry partner, dedicated to the cultural preservation, social development, and economic progress of Kalahandi district.
