Srinagar: A Jammu and Kashmir police officer, posted in Criminal Investigation Department (CID) wing,
was killed in a suspected militant attack on the outskirts of Srinagar.
The deceased has been identified as Inspector Parvaiz Ahmad Dar. He was shot near his house in Nowgam when he was returning home after offering evening prayers.
Soon after the attack, he was taken to the Shri Maharaja Hari Singh (SMHS) hospital in the old city but succumbed to his injuries on way to the hospital.
Meanwhile, Lt Governor Manoj Sinha condemned the brutal killing.
“His supreme sacrifice won’t go in vain, terrorists will be punished for the act,” he said.

This is the second attack on policemen in the city in six days.
On June 17, a cop, Javaid Ahmad was killed in a suspected militant attack in old city Srinagar. He was shot dead by suspected militants near his home at Saidapora in Srinagar.
