Odisha experiences a sharp fall in temperatures as a cold wave grips multiple districts. Jharsuguda records 7°C at 8:30 am while G. Udayagiri touches 4.8°C, the lowest in the state.

Rourkela chills at 9.1°C, adding to the widespread discomfort.

Eleven places in Odisha report temperatures at or below 10°C. Semiliguda records 6.2°C, Phulbani 6.8°C, Chipilima 7.3°C, and Daringbadi 8°C. Angul and Bhawanipatna register 9°C each, while Kirei shows 9.3°C. Koraput and Sundargarh stand at 10°C.

Jharsuguda shows a steady decline in minimum temperatures over the past ten days. The mercury drops from 14°C on December 1 to 9°C on December 10. The trend highlights a consistent fall, with minor fluctuations. Residents experience biting cold as fog reduces visibility during early hours.

The India Meteorological Department issues an advisory urging people to stay warm and exercise caution while travelling. Dense fog creates hazardous conditions for commuters. Authorities emphasise safety measures to prevent accidents during low visibility.

The Regional Weather Centre predicts further intensification of the cold wave from December 11. The chilling conditions may persist until December 12. Odisha continues to brace for harsher weather as winter tightens its grip.

The cold wave in Odisha underscores the severity of seasonal changes. Jharsuguda and other districts face freezing mornings, reminding residents of the need for preparedness. The state remains under close watch as temperatures dip further.
