India batter Jemimah Rodrigues created history by completing 2500 runs in T20 Internationals during the final match of the three-game series against Australia at Adelaide Oval.
Walking in at No. 3, Rodrigues reached the milestone with a boundary off Kim Garth in the fifth over. She became only the fourth Indian woman to achieve the landmark, joining skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, vice-captain Smriti Mandhana, and opener Shafali Verma.
Rodrigues, who also captains Delhi Capitals in the Women’s Premier League, achieved the feat in her 118th T20I. Mandhana had crossed the 2500-run mark earlier in the series, while Kaur set another record by becoming the most-capped international player in women’s cricket with 356 appearances, surpassing New Zealand’s Suzie Bates.
Australia’s Ellyse Perry also celebrated her 350th international appearance, becoming the first Australian woman to reach the milestone.
The series has been closely contested. India won the opener at the SCG after rain interrupted play, leaving them ahead on DLS. Australia bounced back in Canberra with Georgia Voll’s aggressive 88, helping them level the series. In the deciding Adelaide clash, India reached 101/1 in 12 overs, powered by Mandhana’s half-century and Rodrigues’ fluent stroke play.
