Odisha Vigilance officers launched simultaneous searches at four locations linked to Forest Range Officer Rajendra Kumar Samantray in Jagatsinghpur district on December 20, 2025.
The operation began after allegations surfaced that Samantray possessed disproportionate assets beyond his known sources of income. Vigilance teams, led by two Additional SPs, five DSPs, eight Inspectors, and supporting staff, executed search warrants issued by the Hon’ble Special Judge, Vigilance, Cuttack.
Officials searched a triple-storeyed residential building at Chatara, Jagatsinghpur, and a double-storeyed house at his native village, Samantarayapur, PO-Dondo. They also inspected his office at Forest Range, Sampur, under Cuttack Forest Division, along with a government quarter located inside the Jagatsinghpur Forest Range campus.
The Vigilance team thoroughly examined documents, property records, and other materials to assess the extent of disproportionate assets. The searches aimed to uncover evidence that could establish whether Samantray accumulated wealth beyond legitimate income sources.
During house searches so far, the following assets have been unearthed in the name of Samantray and his family members;
1. One palatial triple-storeyed building with an area of approximately 5500 sqft located at Chatara, Jagatsinghpur.
2. One double-storeyed building with an area of 2500 sqft at the native village, Samantarayapur, PO-Dondo, Dist-Jagatsinghpur.
3. 3 nos of valuable plots, including 2 plots in Jagatsinghpur Town and 1 on the outskirts of Cuttack Town.
The measurement and valuation/assessment of the above buildings/plots are being carried out bythe Vigilance Technical Wing.
4. Cash of Rs.3.5 Lakhs.
5. Bank and Postal deposits of Rs. 67 lakhs and other investments are being ascertained.
6. Gold jewellery approx 200 gms.
7. 1 four-wheeler (Bolero) & 2 two-wheelers.
