Sriharikota: The Indian Space and Research Organisation (ISRO) is all set to launch its meteorological satellite INSAT-3DS on Saturday.
With a primary focus on bolstering meteorological observations, this satellite promises to revolutionize weather forecasting and disaster management efforts.
Riding aboard the GSLV F14 rocket, INSAT-3DS is poised to embark on its journey from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) SHAR in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. The launch is scheduled for 5:35 pm.
The carrier’s latest weather satellite by ISRO has been dubbed the “naughty boy” of the space agency in the past, and it will be launched aboard the Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle F14 (GSLV F14) by the Indian space agency.
This satellite is designed to provide more accurate meteorological data, helping India’s weather agencies deliver better forecasts. It will monitor weather patterns over land and sea, aiding in disaster preparedness and response.
ISRO remains undeterred, aiming for a successful deployment of INSAT-3DS into the Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO) during its 16th mission. Following this, meticulous orbit-raising manoeuvres will guide the satellite into its intended Geo-Stationary Orbit, where it will commence its critical operations.
