Mumbai: Riyan Parag’s sublime half-century powered Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals (RR) to a stunning win over Faf du Plessis’ Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in match No.39 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium.
Let’s check the updated points table, orange cap, purple cap standings after RR’s win over RCB.
Points table
Opening the innings for RCB, former skipper Virat Kohli failed to fire for the Du Plessis-led side as the batting icon only scored 9 off 10 balls. Kuldeep Sen, who got the better of skipper Du Plessis (23), also handed Glenn Maxwell a golden duck to put RR in the driving seat. Following Dinesh Karthik’s unfortunate dismissal, RCB only managed to score 115 in 19.3 overs as they lost the match by 29 runs. RR have regained the top spot with a stunning win over RCB in the low-scoring contest.
Orange Cap
Despite recording a forgetful outing, RR opener Buttler managed to retain the top spot on the Orange Cap table. England’s wicketkeeper-batter Butter has smashed 499 runs from 8 matches this season. The RR opener is followed by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) skipper KL Rahul, who has amassed 368 runs. Punjab Kings (PBKS) opener Shikhar Dhawan is third with 302 runs to his name so far this season.
Purple Cap
RR spinner Yuzvendra Chahal went wicketless against his former side on Tuesday. However, the RR spin wizard is still leading the Purple Cap standings. The former RCB spinner has picked up 18 wickets from 8 matches. On Wednesday, Gujarat Titans (GT) will lock horns with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Wankhede Stadium.
