The Malkangiri district administration announced suspension of internet services for 24 hours starting from 6 PM today until 6 PM tomorrow.
The decision came after violent clashes erupted between residents of MV-26 village and Rakhelguda village following the recovery of a headless body of a woman.
District Collector confirmed the suspension and said the move aims to control unrest and prevent the spread of misinformation. Authorities invoked BNS Section 153 to strengthen law and order in the sensitive region.
Tension escalated after the discovery of the mutilated body, which triggered confrontation between the two communities. Reports indicated that several houses faced attacks, and the situation demanded immediate intervention. Police forces have been deployed to maintain order and ensure the safety of residents.
Officials stressed that internet restrictions are temporary and necessary to stabilise the situation. They urged citizens to cooperate with law enforcement and avoid spreading rumours.
