The Athletics Federation of India (AFI) has unveiled the much-anticipated squad for the upcoming Asian Athletics Championships 2025, scheduled to be held in Gumi, South Korea, from May 27 to May 31.

While the list includes some of India’s brightest athletic talents, notable by his absence is Neeraj Chopra, the reigning world champion and two-time Olympic medalist in javelin throw. Chopra is set to compete in the Neeraj Chopra Classic in Bengaluru instead.

Key Highlights:

  • Experienced Stars: The squad features Avinash Sable in the 3000m steeplechase, Parul Chaudhary in multiple events, and Praveen Chithravel in the triple jump.
  • Emerging Talents: Promising athletes like Sachin Yadav (javelin throw) and Shaili Singh (long jump) look poised to make their mark.
  • Mixed-Relay Teams: India will also compete in 4x100m and 4x400m relay events in both men’s and women’s categories.

The Asian Athletics Championships promises to showcase world-class competition, and Team India is geared up to bring home glory.
