The Indian women’s blind cricket team etched their names in history by winning the inaugural Women’s T20 World Cup Cricket for the Blind with a commanding seven-wicket triumph over Nepal in Colombo.
Opting to field first, India restricted Nepal to 114/5 in 20 overs. The chase was executed with remarkable ease, as India surpassed the target in just 12.1 overs, leaving 47 balls to spare. Khula Sharir emerged as the star of the final, scoring an unbeaten 44 off 27 balls, including four boundaries, to guide her team home.

India’s journey to the title was marked by emphatic wins: defeating Sri Lanka by 10 wickets, Australia by 209 runs, Nepal by 85 runs, USA by 10 wickets, and Pakistan by 8 wickets. In the semi-final, India crushed Australia by nine wickets before sealing the crown against Nepal.
The six-team tournament, featuring India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Australia, and the USA, began in New Delhi, moved to Bengaluru, and concluded with knockout stages in Colombo. India’s unbeaten run not only highlights their dominance but also marks a milestone for blind cricket, paving the way for greater recognition and development of the sport.
This victory comes just weeks after India’s women defeated South Africa in Navi Mumbai, underscoring the rising stature of women’s cricket in both mainstream and visually impaired categories.
