New York: Rohit Sharma-led India will start their T20 World Cup campaign against Paul Stirling’s Ireland at the newly-constructed Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York on Wednesday.
Conditions in New York – a sluggish outfield, vast square boundaries and drop-in strips of variable bounce – may have suddenly raised the T20 stocks of anchors and accumulators at the World Cup. With three of their four Group A games marked at the venue, India will have to remain flexible in terms of their combinations to ward off Ireland, Pakistan and hosts United States in that order before gearing up for the slow tracks in the Caribbean for the Super 8s.
