India has secured the hosting rights for the Asian Shooting Championship (Rifle/Pistol) 2027, a prestigious event where eight quota places for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics will be up for grabs.
The Asian Shooting Confederation confirmed the development in a letter to National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) President Kalikesh Singh Deo. The NRAI announced that the championship will be held in Delhi, with dates to be finalised soon.
The championship will serve as a crucial qualifying event for shooters across Asia, with Olympic quota places adding high stakes to the competition. Hosting the event reflects India’s growing stature in global shooting sports and its ability to organise tournaments at the highest standards.
The Confederation congratulated the NRAI, stating: “We are confident that, under your leadership, the championship will be organised to the highest standards and will be a great success.”
