India made a powerful start at the World Archery Championships 2025, securing its place in two finals and guaranteeing at least two medals on the opening day of the tournament.
The second-ranked Indian men’s compound team, featuring Rishabh Yadav, Aman Saini, and Prathamesh Fuge, edged past Australia in a shoot-off (232-232, 30-28), then defeated the USA (234-233) and Turkey (234-232) to book a final clash with France.
In the mixed compound category, Rishabh Yadav teamed up with top-ranked V. Jyothi Surekha to overcome Germany (160-152), El Salvador (157-153), and Chinese Taipei (157-155), setting up a final against the Netherlands.
Despite the strong start, India’s women’s compound team—Jyothi, Parneet Kaur, and Prithika Pradeep—was knocked out by Italy in the second round (229-233).
India’s early success has sparked excitement among fans and raised hopes for a strong medal haul as the championship progresses.
