India continued its stellar run at the Asian Shooting Championships with a commanding performance in non-Olympic disciplines.
Veteran shooter Gurpreet Singh, alongside Rajkanwar Singh Sandhu and Ankur Goel, secured team gold in the 25m centre fire pistol event with an aggregate score of 1733 points. Gurpreet’s precision and rapid-fire rounds totaled 579, contributing significantly to the victory over Vietnam and Iran.
Meanwhile, 24-year-old Manini Kaushik from Jaipur made headlines by earning her first individual international medal—a bronze in the women’s 50m rifle prone event. Despite finishing fifth, she was elevated to third due to two competitors being in the Ranking Points Only (RPO) category. Manini also helped India clinch silver in the team event alongside Surabhi Bharadwaj and Vinod Vidarsa.
India’s junior shooters added to the medal tally, with Prachi Gaikwad winning silver in the junior women’s 50m rifle prone and contributing to a team bronze with Anushka Thokur and Tejal Nathawat.
These victories underscore India’s growing dominance in shooting sports across both senior and junior categories.
