The Indian government has responded to a UK media report alleging that the family of a British national who died in the recent Air India plane crash was mistakenly sent the wrong body.
Addressing the concerns, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said on Wednesday, “We have seen the report and have been working closely with the UK side from the moment these concerns and issues were brought to our attention.”
Jaiswal stressed that victim identification had been conducted following established protocols and technical requirements, and that all mortal remains were handled with utmost professionalism and respect for the deceased.
“We continue to coordinate with UK authorities to address any concerns related to this matter,” he added.
The tragic crash, which claimed multiple lives, occurred when an Air India flight crashed into a medical hostel and canteen complex in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Investigations and recovery operations are still underway.
