The government has reinstated the Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products (RoDTEP) scheme for exports made by Advance Authorisation (AA) holders, Export-Oriented Units (EOUs), and Special Economic Zone (SEZ) units. This policy revision will take effect from June 1, 2025, benefiting exporters across diverse sectors.
The RoDTEP scheme, initially launched in January 2021, is a WTO-compliant initiative designed to reimburse embedded taxes and duties that were not refunded under other export schemes. Although benefits for these special export categories were halted in February 2025, their reinstatement ensures a level playing field for all exporters.
For the Financial Year 2025–26, the government has allocated ₹18,233 crore, covering 10,795 HS lines for AA, SEZ, and EOU exporters. Officials emphasise that this move aligns with India’s commitment to boost trade, enhance global competitiveness, and maintain a transparent digital reimbursement system.
