Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri announced that the ceasefire took effect at 5 PM on Saturday.
Military officials from both nations engaged in direct communication earlier in the day, culminating in an agreement between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs).
According to Misri, directives were issued on both sides to enforce the ceasefire immediately. The DGMOs will reconvene on May 12 for further discussions to assess the situation.
This ceasefire comes after prolonged military tensions along the borders, underscoring the critical need for diplomatic resolutions.
