The Home Secretary Level Talks between India and Nepal took place on July 22, 2025, in New Delhi. The Indian delegation was led by Govind Mohan, Home Secretary of the Government of India, while Gokarna Mani Duwadee, Home Secretary of the Government of Nepal, led the Nepali delegation.
During the discussions, both sides reviewed various aspects of bilateral security cooperation and border management, agreeing to strengthen these areas further. Key topics included the repair and maintenance of boundary pillars, trans-border criminal activities, the functioning of Border District Coordination Committees, and improving border infrastructure, particularly Integrated Check Posts (ICPs), roads, and railway networks. Additionally, they addressed the empowerment and capacity building of security institutions and explored ways to enhance cooperation in disaster risk reduction and management.
Both delegations welcomed the finalization of the text for the Agreement on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters and committed to working toward the early conclusion of a revised Extradition Treaty.
It was agreed that the next Home Secretary Level Talks will be held in Nepal at a mutually convenient date.
