Despite a strong start, Pakistan faltered in their pursuit of 120 runs, ending at 113/7, unable to chase down India’s total. Jasprit Bumrah’s exceptional bowling, claiming 3/14, disrupted Pakistan’s momentum, sealing India’s victory. Mohammad Rizwan provided notable resistance for Pakistan with a top score of 31. Pakistan, aiming to recover from their initial loss against the USA, needed to win this match to revive their World Cup campaign.
Having won the toss, Babar Azam chose to field first. Rain interrupted play after the first over, but upon resumption, the Pakistani bowlers effectively dismantled India’s batting lineup, restricting them to 119 runs in 19 overs. Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah stood out with three wickets each, while Rishabh Pant top-scored for India with 42 runs.
