New Delhi: An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was recovered from an unattended bag found at the Ghazipur Flower Market in East Delhi on Friday.
On being informed, police and bomb disposal squad were rushed to the market after the suspicious bag was spotted.
According to Delhi police, special Cell officials were at the spot and the elite counterterrorism force National Security Guard (NSG) was also called in. Fire engines were also sent to the site.
The NSG conducted a controlled explosion to neutralise the IED.
“The crude bomb was kept inside a bag left by a customer. The man who left the bag went to the market around 9.30 am on a scooty, ostensibly to buy flowers from a shop,” Delhi police said.
The bag was spotted lying at the spot a while later and the flower seller, suspecting something wrong, called the police.
