Actor Huma Qureshi’s upcoming film Bayaan is set for its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) 2025, where it will be showcased in the prestigious Discovery Section. Notably, Bayaan is the only Indian film selected in this category.
Directed by Bikas Ranjan Mishra, Bayaan is described as a “timely and powerful story” of a woman navigating the crossfire of power, faith, and systemic complicity. Huma, who also serves as an executive producer, called the film a chance to portray a character “within the justice system, yet up against forces much larger than herself.”
The thriller also stars Chandrachur Singh, Sachin Khedekar, Paritosh Sand, Avijit Dutt, Vibhore Mayank, Sampa Mandal, Swati Das, Aditi Kanchan Singh, and Perry Chhabra. The film’s technical crew includes editor A. Sreekar Prasad (RRR), cinematographer Udit Khurana, music composer Ajay Jayanthi, and costume designer Shilpi Agarwal.
The film is produced by Shiladitya Bora (Platoon One Films) in collaboration with Madhu Sharma (Summit Studios), Kunal Kumar, Anuj Gupta, and Switzerland-based Sadik Keshwani (Guidant Films). It also received support from the International Film Festival Rotterdam’s Hubert Bals Fund and was developed at Film Independent’s LA Residency.
