On February 8, students wearing saffron scarves raised slogans against Muslim girls donning the hijab at the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial College (MGM) in Udupi district.
The students wearing saffron scarves confronted the Muslim students raising ‘Jai Shri Ram’ slogans. The school authorities intervened to keep both groups of students away from each other.
The Karnataka High Court has started its hearing on the hijab row in the state even as a protest erupted between students wearing hijab and saffron shawls outside a college campus.
