Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted heavy rainfall in multiple areas of Odisha over the next 24 hours.
According to an IMD bulletin, a cyclonic circulation over the West-central Bay of Bengal off the south Andhra Pradesh coast is persisting at 5.8 km above mean sea level.
The districts expected to receive heavy rain are Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Rayagada, Nawarangpur, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, and Khurda. Furthermore, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely in one or two places over the districts of Koraput and Malkangiri.
Thunderstorms with lightning are expected in one or two places over several districts, including Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati.
The IMD has also stated that heavy rainfall is very likely in one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Rayagada, and Gajapati on July 8 and 9.
