A massive influx of devotees was witnessed at the Puri Srimandir on Sunday as thousands gathered to seek the divine darshan of Lord Jagannath, creating a deeply spiritual yet crowded atmosphere in and around the historic shrine.
From the early hours of the morning, long queues of pilgrims stretched along the Bada Danda, with devotees waiting patiently for several hours. Despite the extended waiting time, the surroundings resonated with chants, prayers, and unwavering devotion, reflecting the enduring faith of pilgrims from across Odisha and neighboring states.
Many visitors shared emotional experiences during their pilgrimage. A devotee from Bihar said the family had been planning the visit for several years. “After darshan, we will visit other sacred places in Puri,” the pilgrim shared with devotion.
Another visitor, who arrived with his young son, expressed hope and belief in the Lord’s blessings. “I have faith that Lord Jagannath listens to every devotee. I came here believing my son will recover from his speech difficulties,” he said.
Echoing similar sentiments, another pilgrim stated, “Even if we have to wait longer than usual, we are determined to have darshan.”
The crowd swelled significantly due to Sunday footfall, with devotees arriving from nearby districts and other states. To ensure safety and smooth movement, adequate police personnel and temple administration officials were deployed across key points around the temple.
Despite the heavy rush and long waiting hours, devotees remained calm and cooperative, demonstrating deep reverence and collective faith while awaiting darshan at one of India’s most revered pilgrimage sites.
