The Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has arrested a multipurpose health worker from Kutch, identified as Sahdev Singh Gohil, for allegedly spying for Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
The suspect had been supplying sensitive information regarding Border Security Force (BSF) and Indian Air Force (IAF) sites.
According to officials, Gohil came into contact with a Pakistani agent, identified as Aditi Bharadwaj, via WhatsApp in mid-2023. He reportedly shared photos and videos of key locations and even facilitated secure communication by activating a SIM card for Bharadwaj. Authorities confirmed that Gohil received Rs 40,000 in cash for his services.
Further investigations are underway, with Gohil now being questioned in Ahmedabad. His phone has been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory for analysis, and legal proceedings have begun under stringent national security laws.
This arrest comes amid a broader crackdown on espionage activities, following the recent Pahalgam terror attack. National security agencies have detained 11 individuals across multiple states, suspected of leaking classified information to Pakistan.
Officials have urged citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities as the nation intensifies efforts to curb infiltration attempts by foreign intelligence agencies.
