The Government of India has launched the “Aadi Karmayogi Abhiyan,” a transformative campaign led by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs.
The initiative seeks to build a responsive grassroots cadre to ensure tribal citizens receive essential services directly and efficiently.
Under this mission-mode programme, 20 lakh field-level functionaries will be trained to facilitate development in tribal regions. The Abhiyan is structured into three categories—Aadi Karmayogis (government functionaries), Aadi Sahayogis (youth leaders and professionals), and Aadi Saathis (tribal leaders and volunteers)—to foster inclusive governance.
A recent 7-day Regional Process Lab (RPL) Workshop in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, trained 24 State Master Trainers from Jharkhand, Bihar, and Odisha. These trainers will cascade knowledge to district and block-level cadres, ensuring decentralised implementation.
The campaign targets 1 lakh tribal villages across 30 states and UTs. In Odisha, Phase I will cover 22 districts, 213 blocks, and 7,623 villages. The Bhubaneswar workshop follows successful sessions in Bengaluru, Bhopal, and Dehradun.
The Abhiyan promotes citizen-centric governance through grievance redressal, localised planning, and inter-ministerial convergence involving departments like Rural Development, Education, Jal Shakti, and Environment.
