A goods train carrying iron ore derailed near Chimidipalli on the KK Line, causing over 25 wagons to go off track.
The derailment has led to significant disruptions in railway operations. Reports indicate that half of the train is stuck inside a tunnel, making restoration efforts more complex.
The incident occurred in the Araku-Kottavalasa section, under the Waltair Division of East Coast Railway. The train was transporting iron ore from Kirandul to Vijayawada when the derailment happened. As a result, all train movements on the KK Line have been halted, with passenger services between Visakhapatnam and Kirandul being rerouted via Rayagada.
Senior railway officials have rushed to the site to oversee restoration efforts, and a Relief Train has been deployed to assist. Authorities indicate that track clearance and full restoration may take approximately two days. Resources have been mobilised, and efforts are in full swing to resume normal operations at the earliest.
