Massive Haul: Vigilance Crackdown on Joint Commissioner of State Transport Authority
Bhubaneswar, March 6, 2025: In a major breakthrough, the Odisha Vigilance Directorate has uncovered assets worth crores in an ongoing house search of Sri Pradeep Kumar Mohanty, Joint Commissioner, State Transport Authority, Cuttack. The assets include multiple buildings, flats, plots, farmhouses, gold biscuits, gold ornaments, cash, vehicles, and bank deposits, revealing a startling accumulation of wealth.
Key Findings:
- Residential Properties: The search unearthed a triple-storeyed residential building in Bhubaneswar and a 4-BHK flat purchased for approximately Rs. 1 crore. Additionally, multiple benami properties, including flats and buildings, were discovered.
- Land and Farmhouse: A farmhouse and high-value plots, along with agricultural land, were found among the assets.
- Precious Metals: Three gold biscuits and gold ornaments weighing 1.5 kg were recovered.
- Cash and Bank Deposits: Authorities seized cash amounting to Rs. 15.55 lakhs and bank deposits worth over Rs. 17 lakhs.
- Vehicles: Two four-wheelers, suspected to be benami, and a two-wheeler were also part of the haul.
Search Operations: The extensive search operations were conducted at nine locations, including Bhubaneswar, Khordha, Puri, Nayagarh, and Cuttack. The search involved a large team of officers from the Odisha Vigilance Directorate, working under the authority of Search Warrants issued by the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar.
The investigation is still ongoing to determine the source of these disproportionate assets, and further searches are expected to reveal more hidden wealth, Odisha Vigilance said.
