Coco Gauff proved why she’s among tennis’s elite as she stormed into the Roland-Garros final with a commanding 6-1, 6-2 victory over French wildcard Lois Boisson.
Despite the enthusiastic home support at Court Philippe-Chatrier, the world No.2 showed experience and composure to take control of the match from the very first point.
Boisson, ranked No.361 in the world, had stunned the tennis community by defeating top-10 players Jessica Pegula and Mirra Andreeva on her way to the semifinals. However, facing the battle-tested Gauff, the challenge proved too steep.
Gauff set the tone early, utilising sharp backhand lobs and inside-in forehands to control rallies. She fended off three break points from Boisson at 3-0 down and never looked back. The young French star did manage a brief moment of resurgence, breaking Gauff’s serve, but the American quickly extinguished any hopes of a comeback, wrapping up the match in just 69 minutes.
With this victory, Gauff advances to her third Grand Slam final, joining an elite list of American players—including Chris Evert, Martina Navratilova, and Serena Williams—who have reached multiple women’s singles finals at Roland-Garros. She now faces world No.1 Aryna Sabalenka in what promises to be a thrilling showdown.
Speaking after the match, Gauff praised Boisson’s performance, stating, “Lois is an incredible player. She has proven she’s one of the best, especially on clay. I’m sure we’ll have many battles in the future.”
Looking ahead, Gauff will aim to use her experience from her 2022 Roland-Garros final appearance to claim her second Grand Slam title. With Sabalenka standing in her way, all eyes will be on the upcoming blockbuster final on Saturday.
