A shocking incident has emerged from Mundamarai village under Dharakote police limits in Odisha’s Ganjam district, where a woman allegedly strangled her husband to death and attempted to disguise the crime as suicide.
The deceased, identified as Amar Nayak, was reportedly involved in a heated argument with his wife, Anjana Nayak, on Tuesday night. In a fit of rage, Anjana allegedly strangled Amar to death. Preliminary reports suggest that she later tried to present the murder as a suicide to mislead authorities. However, inconsistencies in the crime scene raised suspicion among local residents, leading them to alert the police.
A team from Dharakote police station promptly arrived at the scene, recovered the body, and detained Anjana for interrogation. The police have sent Amar’s body for post-mortem examination to verify the exact circumstances of the incident.
Local sources reveal that the couple frequently had disputes, and tensions had reportedly escalated in recent months. Police are now investigating the background of their relationship, speaking to family members and neighbours to determine any prior history of domestic violence. Authorities have assured that legal action will be taken based on the investigation’s findings.
The tragic incident has left the village in shock, raising concerns about domestic violence and mental health support for troubled families.
