Odisha Vigilance today seized unaccounted cash of Rs 3 lakh from Ganjam district’s supply officer, Pusha Munda.
The operation unfolded near Chhatrapur on the national highway, where officials intercepted Munda’s government vehicle.
According to vigilance sources, the officer was en route from his rented house in Bank Colony to the office when the cash was discovered. A total of Rs 3 lakh, all in Rs 500 denomination, was confiscated from the vehicle during the surprise check.
Following the recovery, the vigilance team conducted a further search at his rented accommodation inside the Ashirbad Apartment complex. The origin of the cash remains unclear, as Munda could not offer a satisfactory explanation about why it was being transported or from whom it had been received.
Interestingly, Munda was recently transferred from Ganjam to Nuapada district, raising further questions about the timing of the seizure.
Vigilance authorities confirmed that an investigation is underway to trace the cash’s origin and determine whether it was linked to any acts of misconduct or bribery.
