Acting on the directions of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, four Odia youths stranded in Thailand have been safely repatriated to Odisha.

The returnees—Jayanta Kumar Mallick, Hemanta Kumar Behera, Manaranjan Sahu, and Bijay Kumar Swain—arrived in Bhubaneswar today. All six youths, hailing from Kendrapara and Bhadrak districts, had travelled to Thailand in August 2025 to work in a plywood company. They later alleged that the employer withheld wages and subjected them to hardships. Seeking help, they appealed to the Odisha Government through social media.

Following their plea, coordinated efforts were launched involving the Ministry of External Affairs, the Odisha Government’s Chief Resident Commissioner in New Delhi, the Directorate of Odisha Paribar, the Labour & Employee’s State Insurance Department, and district administrations of Kendrapara and Bhadrak. These joint efforts ensured the safe return of four youths, while steps continue to assist the remaining two.

After their arrival, the youths expressed gratitude to the government for extending timely support. Officials emphasised that the initiative reflects Odisha’s commitment to protecting migrant workers and ensuring their welfare abroad.
