Balasore: In a tragic accident between an ambulance and a container on Sunday, near Mirigimundi Dhaba on NH-16 under Rupsa police station of Balasore district, four people including a patient suffered critical injury as the ambulance caught fire immediately after the accident.
According to reports, the 108 ambulance, en route to Balasore from Basta Community Health Centre, lost control and collided with the back of a container. As a result, the ambulance’s oxygen cylinder exploded and the ambulance caught fire. Four people including the patient in the ambulance sustained serious injuries and were taken to the Balasore main hospital.
The ambulance’s pharmacist is in critical condition and has been transferred to Cuttack Medical College for further treatment.
Rupsa Police Station Officer-in-Charge, Sachidananda Giri is conducting an investigation at the scene. The ambulance was completely gutted in the fire, the report said.
